  • My favourite plate has always been FU2, which I saw in London many years ago.

which would be an ideal number for a writer, if I've understood correctly. LOL :p

Owned or was owned by Steve Parrish (motorcycle and truck racer) I think.

Digressing slightly but still more or less on topic, there was a Chinese restaurant somewhere (Leeds I think) which was named Fuk Yu. It was the owner's name. He was an immigrant who never learned to speak English and his children worked the front of house whilst he did the cooking. Apparently they kept the secret from him until the day he died. He never knew why his name caused such amusement.

That's not the only such humorous story regarding Chinese names either. I actually saw one in Hammersmith which was called Ho Le Fuk. I bet other posters will have come across similar amusing foreign names. :p

Personally, I'd like a plate that is so immediately forgettable that no two witnesses can agree on what my number was ;)
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

That's more or less why I stopped using a personalised plate. It identifies your, otherwise innocuous, motor from anyone who doesn't like you and wants to display their talents for art on your paintwork. Mind you, in my case, when it's top of the range executive saloons you're driving (not any more I should point out) they're still quite easy to identify. :(

Heh. I reckon PEN 15 was issued in more innocent times, when the fruity possibilities of a few random letters and numbers were less well-known. They did block the release of the similar PEN 1S in the 70s, as I understand.

Some personal favourites, as we are on the subject:

M4 MAD (seen on a BMW, on the M5, obviously)
SAT1N (another, older BMW in North Ferriby, owned by the Ferry Inn)
B16 CAT (Jaguar promotional vehicle, seen at my local Jag dealer)
B16 TOY (Black Range Rover, motorway somewhere)

And my personal all-time favourite, on a Renault Trafic delivery vehicle, owned by my local bed shop:

    D1 VAN.

    Boom-tish.
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.
  • The market will be limited whatever it's worth as it can only go on a new 14reg car.

Other than that I wouldn't pay anything for it.

"I've just ordered a brand new 14-plate car, and now I am looking for a number plate that almost (but not quite) spells 'w@nker'."

    *Thinks*

... Nah, isn't going to happen

    Another fair point :rotfl:

My friend has approached a few companies such as Regtransfers for a valuation. I think he paid £399 for it. He's willing to accept that it may not sell quickly, or even at all!

Thanks anyway, folks. I'll let you know if it sells :rotfl:

That plate was owned by former glamour model Fiona Richmond who posed in Paul Raymond magazines such as Men Only in the 70's.
