Hubby has very kindly bought me some nematodes so will be applying these to the ground later this week when the rain arrives :j0

2 things new today -
My T & M free tomatoes arrived. After almost a week in a box they didn't look great, so I've potted them straight away, fingers crossed they will look better tomorrow.
I then found the first sawfly larvae on my gooseberries but the good news is that my pet chicken was with me and she eats them! So I'll take her along to the gooseberry bush every dayFirst they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
I've found 23 snails on my redcurrant bush, they other one none. They now live in the park at the back.
Poor rhubarb took a battering in the wind and rain over the last few days, looks very sorry for itself so I'll leave it alone for the next few weeks so it can recover.
Other than that not much else happening here, just successional sowing for salads.0 -

12 week old whippet pup..... named Duck :rotfl:
Thats what happens when you let your 3 year old name the puppy
How are we all growing everyone?
My long trough planter now has runner beans, purple sprouting broccoli, salad onion seeds, pak choi, radishes and wild rocked in it. Nothing seems very happy in there though
My bag planter by the backdoor, has some radishes which seem happier, pak choi (not seeming very happy), spinach seeds (nowt happening yet), and mixed salad leaf seed (just coming up).
Everything else seems to be stuck at the 2 seed leaf stage, my tomatoes, my aubergines, my sweet peppers etc..... Not sure what to do there?Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Lovely sunny morning ! Plans for today are sowing more radishes and carrots and lettuces in modules. When OH has time and does feel ok hopefully we'll get the last potatoes in. Fingers crossed for those tomato plants in the greenhouse.
CAFCgirl, maybe you could get them a bit of feed? That is a long stage though, maybe just practice patience and watch leaf 3 and 4 come on (can be like watching paint dry...)First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
Potatoes are absolutely HUGE!! fingers crossed that whatever is going on below the ground is as impressive as above. :T
Green beans have beauties on them - about 10 and they look really healthy. :T
No slugs as such but the snails are being a pest, however the dickies in the hedge are having a good breakfast on them every morning!! :rotfl:
Have counted 17 plums on Victoria - who is looking very lovely and healthy. :T Was worried of her in that wind though.
Tomatoes are looking really good and healthy. :T
Courgettes are doing much better - have noticed a good bit of growth on them too but looking much better than they were. I put cut bottles over them with the lids off so not too warm, got them into lots of light and gave them some cold tea - they seem to approve. :T
On the moving front.....we are three weeks from eviction and still nowhere to go ..... .... .... .....:eek:Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Thanks HappyGreen.
I'll give that a go. They've been same size for about 3 weeks now.
Anyone have any recipes for a feed that doesnt involve me going out and buying anything? LOLWealth is not measured by currency0 -
Tea cafgirl? or - my gandad used to get a good shovel of rotted horse manure, some chicken poop (from our own chickens), and maybe even a bit of good compost. He would put it all in a rain but affair and water well. Leave for a week and then use the liquid as a liquid feed.
Dont know if it does work but I have got blood, fish and bonemeal in pellet form and have mixed them with water - you have to allow them to sit for a minute or two for the water to permeat - seems to have worked but may have been a fluke perhaps?Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

nettles. Chop roughly and fill a net bag (tights) then immerse in a bucket of water. Leave 2 weeks and you will have a great feed to dilute
Bocking 14 comfrey is even better, I use it all the time and have just taken my first cut this year0 -
Thats handy kittie, will add that tip to my "book of knowledge". I know, as brother is a homeopath, that nettle tea aids a sore throat (providing you can stand the taste!!) Good idea to use something you otherwise would rid your garden of.Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal
