Elephant and Admiral Phone Hang up ?

Hi there,

Since yesterday I've been trying to ring either Admiral or Elephant (0800, 0844 and 0871 numbers) to get a new policy as its the cheapest one I could find.

However, although the automated system picks up, before it puts me through to an agent/person to take the new quote it hangs up. This has been happening since yesterday. I've tried on both a landline and mobile phone with the same effect.

I need the insurance active from tomorrow, so I might have to pay a tad more and go with someone else.

Also a pain, they have no direct twitter to ask them and their email options ask for policy numbers etc (I don't have one, I'm a new customer).

Any ideas?

Cheers.

  • Cheers buddy, I just tried it but it hung up on me again.

    Option 3 (New Customer)
    Option 1 (Accept Quote)

I imagine they would have noticed a severe drop in call centre volumes and be running around like crazy realising the £ they are losing...

just rang them. just got greeted with a message saying "unable to take your call at the moment, please try again later". I presume they're aware of the problem then.

You can use the contact form to request a callback. But I think it would be quicker to retry in a few hours.
  • Cheers for the efforts buddy.

I wouldnt use any company that only have 084 or 087 numbers.

My previous company had an 0800 and landline number for mobile users. And so does the new company i have just switched to.

So even if a company saved you a fair whack of money compared to its nearest competitor, you wouldnt use it for the sake of some expensive phone numbers (which you will hardly, if ever use, and are easily got around anyway)?

there are always ways around it, you can find the landline number by looking at saites like saynoto0870

Whether they try to charge for the calls or provide a freephone number it's all reflected in the price. A freephone service will just recoup the cost in the premiums.

    Admiral is a cheaper insurer.

^^ I use saynoto0870, find the regular land line number and call that from my mobile so that it just uses some of my 2000 "free" minutes.
