PPI Help

Hi
I took out a mortgage with the Abby National in September of 1998, since then I have changed to another mortgage provider.
I have no documentation about the original mortgage, nor the date I changed to my current provider. Also the Abby National is now Santander who are, however, in the same building.
How do I, or can I, go about finding out whether I had PPI on the original mortgage, although I am pretty sure that I would have as I was a newly divorced woman buying my first house and having a long term and very painful back problem which meant I could easily see myself not being able to pay the mortgage due to not being able to continue to work.

By looking at your bank statements to see if there was a direct debit for it. One of the reasons why most MPPI complaints are rejected is that it is not usually built into the debt but standalone.although I am pretty sure that I would have as I was a newly divorced woman buying my first house and having a long term and very painful back problem which meant I could easily see myself not being able to pay the mortgage due to not being able to continue to work.
So, if you did have it, you would appear to have a financial need for it that the sale would be justified. In which case, what would be your reason for complaint?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
