Hi,
A nieghbour of ours told talk talk they wanted to switch their phone and brioadband to another company and were given an early contract termination fee of £60.
Now that the cooling off period has passed with the new company, Talk Talk are now saying they made an error and the early termination fee is now over £300.
Would appreciate any advice out there as to what to do next because a contract has now started with the new company and they are unable to pay £300, whereas £60 was okay.
Do we challenge Talk Talk because it is their error in the first place and have laft us with so much inconvenience and bother to sort out, not knowing what the new conmpany will say if we have to cancel with them? Can we escalate the situation with Talk Talk to revert to their original information?
Many Thanks,

Newc - Its unclear from your post but why, if TT offered a £60 cancellation at the time, wasnt it taken up and cancellation booked and paid for before taking up the new contract. Unless you have anything in writing or email stating that then I suppose you could call them and ask for them to check the account notes - I assume it would have been noted or ask for them to check the call recordings as they do state that all calls are recorded. I assume that you have already asked, in which case, what was their reply?0

Thanks for your replies guys.
nonplussed - i see what you're saying but the way we went about it was for the companies to sort it out between themselves then pay the fees to leave when requested. if we has the option to do it then they might have gone on to realise their mistake whilst on that call - who knows? Anyway we are going to hang on with talk talk for a while until its easier to move away and the providers who we were going to join understood the situation and have just cancelled the contract with nothing to pay.
thanks again,0
