"The top prize this year is a trip to the beautiful island of Madeira, courtesy of the Blandy family who have been making top-quality Madeira for over 200 years.The winner and a companion will fly to Madeira and stay at the Blandy Wine Lodges in the heart of Funchal. There will be visits to the vineyards, tastings of Madeira wine and, if the weather is good, maybe even a boat trip.
Flights from a UK airport, two nights’ accommodation and all meals on Madeira are included in the trip which will be taken at a mutually convenient time, but will probably be in March 2014. I am planning to accompany the trip. For runners-up there are two copies of new 7th edition The World Atlas of Wine, by Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson which I think is the best wine book of the year."
