Original Wii only has the red/white (for the sound) yellow (composite video) - If you TV has not got these sockets you can get a scart adapter that takes red/white /yellow

you can also use a component cable with HDTV's if you have the extra sockets. I have one for mine

I am using these Component cables on 2 of our Wii's (on the larger 32" and 42" screens) and the picture is fine.

You will probably find that the standard or scart cables are not really good enough for a 55" screen - so Component is the way to go.

As above, Component Video is the closest analogue solution to compare with Digital...and it does make a visible difference.

cheers guys much appreciate your replies

i have bought both as both are very cheap anyhow, also never mentioned that as well as the picture being very blurred it is also in black and white, will this problem be resolved by buying the compnent cable or scart converter ?

OK - that sounds like your Wii screen setting may not be correct. Try / check this:

From the Wii Home screen, select round Wii button on the bottom left (highlights as 'Wii Options'), then select Wii Settings on the right hand of the next screen.

From there, select the Screen option (third down) then on the next screen TV type (also third down).

For the normal 'Composite' AV cable you are using - Yellow (video) and Red/White (stereo audio) - or a SCART lead, you should select the first option of 50Hz / 576i.

If you were to use the Component cable suggested above - Red, Green, Blue (Video) and Red/ White (stereo audio), then you select EDTV / HDTV 480p).

    Hope that helps ...

OK - next question - where is the Wii from, I mean what country ?

If you let me know the serial number on the bottom (send by PM is you don't want it in public) it might give an idea what the country of origin is.

If it is non-UK, that might be why the video is not right.
