Plinth heaters

Hi in the process of getting quotes for a new kitchen. As there is no radiator I was looking at a plinth heater. Has anyone had these and were they worth it? Thanks

yes we installed an electric one in the house we are in now - just need to position it carefully to ensure coverage. Not used it much but if its really cold we give the room a quick blast. In the old house we installed one connected to the central heating -seemed better than the electric but the connections were already there (some one had removed a radiator in the past)

We are planning a new kitchen, too and intend to have the radiator removed to give more cupboard space. My husband suggested a plinth heater, but I wondered about a good placement, so we have opted to use two items we already have ie a portable fan heater we already have (can go on a worktop) and a small De Longhi oil filled radiator which can be stored in a cupboard when not needed.
  • we looked into it for our new kitchen but our design then allowed us to have a normal one.

i wouldn't hesitate about having one - would prefer that solution than having portable things out all the time and to store
  • Just had a new kitchen. We have a kick space heater fitted that runs off the central heating. Best thing we ever did, much warmer than the old raditor.

Myson make good plinth heaters. One that runs off the central heating is a good idea.

They work well. Avoid positioning under a fridge.

Another alternative would be to install underfloor heating - either wet or electric
