    I know on travel at the company I work for, We do ask if there is any reason (regarding non travelling family members) that the trip may be cancelled or curtailed.

    It can be wrote in to the policy BUT it does come at a cost.

    With your choice of insurer there is no option to declare it. Its the minority of policies that give the option of declaring non-travelling close relatives conditions which the insurers will then decide if to offer cover for them or not.
  • I claimed on my travel insurance for the cost of my flight. My father in law had cancer for a year before and he became seriously ill just before I was due to fly and sadly passed away. Aviva paid out no bother and did not ask any questions at all.
