Eurotunnel: day return vs long term return

Hi, just wondering if this is possible ... we want to go to France for a couple of weeks but it looks like it's cheaper to buy 2 day returns on eurotunnel rather than 1 longer term return (save £40-50). has anyone done this? is there some small print to stop one doing this? Do Eurotunnel do anything to prevent it? thanks v much - happy hols!

This one's as old as the hills. The short answer is no, you can't. Just do a search on here for the other threads where this question has been asked.0

Eurotunnel's T&Cs state that they may charge you the difference to a full-fare ticket if you do not complete both legs. As they will have your credit / debit card details, this is in theory possible.
While there are several previous threads on this topic, I have not yet seen a post from anyone who was actually subsequently charged.
Personally, I have just used a prepaid credit card to make an overnight return booking. If I do not use the return leg, any request for payment will be denied if there is not a sufficient balance on the card.0 -
That might work but I doubt you could use the return leg of a day crossing to get back - how did you get back? Did you buy a day return in France (do they even do them there - can't believe many French come over for a day trip?) or just a single?Takecareofthepennies wrote: »Eurotunnel's T&Cs state that they may charge you the difference to a full-fare ticket if you do not complete both legs. On this occasion I'll come back by air, leaving my car to be picked up the following week when travelling again. The second return trip (by car) will be by ferry.
I am aware it contravenes ET's T&Cs, but then I am also less than impressed with what has happened to cross-Channel fares ever since the demise of SpeedFerries.0 -

That doesnt change if you owe it or not. Though as it takes more effort on their part they may not bother pursuing it.0
