We only did a small christmas shop as we try not to do that whole panic over buy but as OH works in a school we ended up with lots of unexpected goodies. Most will last months and end up as school treats. We will freeze what we can and those extra chocolates left over that no one seems to like i make into cookies.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. We dealt with it this year by not buying the stuff in the first place! We plotted the whole of Christmas in fine detail and just picked out a couple of treats that we fancied. Harder for those with families or Christmas guests but it worked great for us. Leftover cheese is being used up in the daily sandwiches.
Same here! I saw all sorts of things I liked the look of, but resisted
In the end I bought a cheesecake for me (we don't like Xmas cake / pud) and the kids had treats from their stockings. MIL brought roses and a roulade and my mum brought mince pies. But a lot got taken to my aunts on Boxing Dayso sadly she has to deal with it all. Having said that, with three teenage boys in the house I think it was probably a godsend
My dad then brought another tin of roses for us on New Year's Day. I suspect he was offloading leftovers under the guise of "I forgot to bring this last week" lol if they were really intended for us he would have brought heroes or celebrations
They are in the garage. Dated till March. I may take them to work...Bossymoo

We got 4 tubs of Hero's and the kids have eaten 2 of them. We actually started one before Christmas because we knew what was under the wrapping paper and knew we would get a few. Most years I put a tub of sweets away for Easter. Other than that we dont buy a lot extra and most of the stuff has gone.
Its the empty Hero tubs that bother me - it seems such a waste just to bin them but we get a lot every year and dont have use for all of them!0 -
I moved all our goodies off the dining room table before going to bed as one the dogs was trying to get to it, seems without thinking I'd put it all next to my husband's car keys so he thought I meant for him to take it to work, so all ours is gone, but he said they all enjoyed it!0

YORKSHIRELASS put your empty tubs on Freecycle. People use them as cake tins. Or see if your local primary school needs them for storage.
Returning to the question of left overs, we always seem to have a lot of cream but we use it on pasta, in quiche and tortillas.
I have frozen some blue cheese for a friend who likes cheesy biscuits, and I will make her some on her birthday.
Some of our chocolate went on top of a birthday cake, with chocolates round the edge.
The rest of the ham went in the freezer.
I did hear of a family who all got together the day after Boxing Day and everyone brought their left overs. No-one cooks but everything gets hoovered up. Lovely idea.0 -
I cut back hard this year and only bought a few bits, the family didn't notice so I will be doing the same next year.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I end up taking Christmas bits to work in my lunchbox for a few weeks! Next week I'll be taking an unopened tube of Pringles on Monday, and keeping them at work for a week's lunches; last week I was taking bakewell tarts (I don't like mince pies); and my sandwiches have more variety than normal. I even take pickled onions & beetroot in a little tub:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
