What did you complain about? Until we know this then we can't really speculate on their reasons for asking for it.0 -
In answer to the questions as well, no they can't demand it. They can only ask. But if your complaint was, say, that you weren't working enough hours to be eligible then they are within their rights to try to ascertain your earnings in order to check this. If you refuse , or are unable, to provide it then there's not much they can do about it. However, this may be the difference between them upholding and rejecting your complaint.0

Because it depends on what your complaint about the PPI was.
Once you tell us your complaint reasons then we can advise better.0 -

Probably as evidence to support your allegations. What did your complaint letter say in relation to your circumstances in 2001?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Something doesn't sound quite right about this. Normally you wouldn't know if they were prepared to offer until you get your decision letter. And if they were then they would tell you how much the offer was. If they were still investigating they would normally keep their cards close to their chests.
As per previous comments though, unless we know your reasons for complaint any comment would be pure guesswork.0
