Hi all, and happy new year.
I am hoping that someone out there can advise me on where I can turn to get advice on investments for retirement. The problem I have is that I need help in deciding whether it would be better for me to invest in buy to let (residential), buy to let (commercial), funds or a mixture of both.
It seems that companies are avialable to help with investments or property - but not both!
Any help would be much appreciated.

An IFA can advise. Since the IFA is paid by you irrespective of your choice, there should be no bias.
That said, if you are an inexperienced landlord and are going to be involving borrowing, then that is generally regarded as a higher risk transaction compared to conventional investment funds. So, don't be surprised if conventional investing is the method that is likely suggested. Bottom line is that both things can do a job. It is really making sure that your expectations, understanding for risk and capacity for loss etc are correct. After that it is mainly preference.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
