Lights not working

None of the lights in my flat are working. I turned one light on and it flashed as if the fuse had gone(other lights already on). However, in the fuse box, the trip switch hadn't gone. I have tried resetting it but nothing:(. Ideas?

By 'trip switch', do you mean the main RCD, or the MCB for the individual lighting circuit?
Have you changed the bulb in the one that's failed?

It's showing red at the fuse box then?

sounds a lot like it's just the bulb.
get something steady to stand on and making sure the electricity is off (you can trip the trip switch to be sure) go to where the bulb is and stand on the somethign steady to stand on. reach up to the bulb and holding the fitting with one hand and the bulb in the other slowly twist the bulb, (it may be a bayonet fitting or screw in type you won't know unless you changed it before). If, when you twist it, nothing is happening i.e. it doesn't come loose. GENTLY push the bulb back into the fitting and then twist. once it is out you can see what type it is and go buy a new one.
you can also (if you are desperate for light) take another bulb from another light fitting and, if they are the same type of fitting, put the other bulb in until you buy a replacement.
