In our co op one of the staff there, who is well known for only reducing the items by about 10% knowing that customers looking for a bargain won't get one. At the end of the shift at closing time it gets binned, however the staff member fills her boots for free, anything she does not want gets binned.
Luckily she only works 2 days a week because the other staff reduce the goods by about 80-90% and the items are cleared.

Me and hubby were once in Sainsburys and came across a trolley in one of the aisles with lots of bottles of lager in, all with a 5p sticker on them. So hubby started to put some into our trolley when a member of staff came over and told him he couldn't buy any as they were for staff only, apparently they had been brought out onto the shop floor in error. Hubby being hubby told him to go get the manager and try him stop him buying some, hubby saying, they are on the shop floor with a price on them so I'm buying some. They let us buy some but then moved the trolley out the back.

Just before Christmas, a friend nipped into the Co-op on a large housing estate about a mile from me. She bought some reduced chicken breasts and something else. Went to the till. The lady said to her she cannot have the chicken breasts as she is having them! You do not speak to customers like that and don't act like that!

That made me laugh, I would have put the exact change on the counter and left. :)
