Well I managed to delete a post where I co mplained about everything that has gone wrong this month lol. Good job really. :rotfl:
A month where you think hey let's Max out all the cards and go on holiday, but you know what- I haven't spent any money the last few days, except for essentials. Proper ones not essential chocolate or essential take away:beer:
Really don't know what to do with this saving/debt busting thing. Hmmmm. Do you think a thousand is a lot /not enouv savings with this level of debt? I have about £6000 avail balance on cards. Really don't know.
Husband was off work (paid ofc) two days this week so managed to save the train fare into my savin pot. :T
Gonna round balances and pay bills over the weekend so no difference to the balances today.
Put something on freegle the other day so need to wait for the lady to pick up tomorrow. Seem to be more requests than offers on freegle/freecycle that I remember there being. Not really used if for almost a year really til now. Anyone else notice a difference?0 -
I did have to go food shopping today and used up all this weeks food budget, however managed to buy quite a few yellow sticker items to top up the freezer again. And won't need anything else shopping wise this week.
I've managed to have an extra 9 hours overtime this week and the same next week so wages at the end of the month will have a slight boost :j
Little man is now able to have 10 hours free in nursery so fit it in then. He's finding it really tiring going every day so if I feel he's too tired I just let him stay home. Going to try and build him up to it I think.
Can't wait for my lie in tomorrow. Well as much as to can have with young children lol.:rotfl:0 -
Bathed the kids ready for school tomorrow and managed to use a couple of free shower gel sachets as their bubble bath so that was frugal and free. :j
Had to have a shower in torchlight as the bulb had blown but is saved on the electricity haha
Bill payment today of £242.63 so that finishes one of my bnpl items before the ridiculous interest hits.:D
Total balance down to £5315.85 loving seeing the balance go down. Want it gone. Now. Lol.0 -
Well done on avoiding the interest. I love the bubble bath hope the children enjoyed it.

Lowers head in shame.
Well my diary time lasted a long time......
I can't even make any excuses for it.
A few things that have happened since I have been away:
OH decided he really "needed" a 125 motorbike to get to work as the commuting was costing us a small fortune and he assured me it would save us 2/3rds of the cost...... skip to present day..... he wasted a small fortune buying and selling a bike he thought he wanted but didn't and we now owe for a bike, pay for the commute and the wretched thing is taking up all the room in the garage.
Car decided it wanted to die on us. some major CPR saved it but that has also cost us.....
Mum got into car trouble and had no way at all of getting to work so we extended our credit to help her. That however is on a 0% super balance transfer and she is paying that back. As it is in my name though I still count it as part of my debt total.
Was persuaded to arrange/book a family holiday abroad as we have never had one. wish i could say I put up a big fight about it and its not happening but I didn't. And it is.....
All been paid for and we are going in a few days.
I hadn't learnt at all. Lightbulb flickered but the idea of paying of my debts and getting it all clear was so different that getting OH onboard and putting my foot down.
Didn't really want to come back on here and admit what happened to be honest but I have been using YNAB for 2 months now and am enjoying using it. Banged my head against the wall and chastised myself enough I hope so am climbing back on the wagon.
I hope you dont think Im just messing round playing at being a debt free wannabe and turn your backs on me. I really do want to be able to knock it on its head and get it gone. I know I need to grow a pair and say we cant afford things. I can do it with the children but struggle with OH. He fritters money away like its nothing, then says hes sorry about it what can he do its done now and then goes and does it again.
Deep breath
Am ashamed to write down the total amount that I currently owe at the minute but our debt has more that doubled. We can still afford the payments but we cant carry on like this.
Still have to go on this family holiday but will not be spending any more than what has already been allocated for it.
Here we go again......0 -
Enjoy your holiday and get thinking about Xmas etc... you need to do this without adding extra debt. If you can succeed in this then you just need to get OH on board try the shock tactic may help show exactly what owed what comes in out etc..
If they are anything like mine it will go in one ear and out the other.
Coming back on here is your first step back on the wagon good luck.

This is life Megan, it just happens like that and debt is a difficult habit to break.
so long as the long bulb is full beam a head when you return from holiday you will be good to debt bust.
I recommend Stressed steph's diary, she is brilliant, really good at all. Also have a look at Dave Ramsey, he is interesting, bit like Martin Lewis really
Enjoy the holiday

Thank you both
. I have started getting reduced price items for Christmas and have planned a budget. Have been saving up my Tesco vouchers to double up and I have £82.50 at the minute so will be a good chunk that I don't have to spend real money on.
I will have a look at Stressed steph's diary. Can be my bedtime read tonight
I love reading through other peoples diaries actually that's probably my nosy steak coming out.
I need to get my head on before going on the holiday really so that all we spend is what I have budgeted and it doesnt get any worse.

Having a sort for holiday day today. Kids still don't know we're going so difficult to do while trying to hide from them.
Been to change travel money and bought Disney tickets online saving us a few quid. Going to take some envelopes with me so I can split the money up as I go so I don't overspend. Managed to borrow some suitcases so 1 less spend.
Not going to do any shopping before I go so that I can use up the food stuffs that would go out of date while we're away.
While it may seem trivial by going on this holiday it will actually mean a weeks less petrol, no travel to work and less electricity. So about £125 in all that will go back in the pot.
Feeling quite chilly today but refusing to put the heating on. kids running around half dressed so if they cant feel the cold i shouldn't either.
Need to do some YNAB balancing/entries later to make sure things are still up to speed.0
