Well I haven't posted on this site for so long I no longer have my old email so am unable to retrieve my password. Never mind new name new mindset!
I have already started on my debt free/clutter free journey but so that can't be my new year resolution but a diary may kick me up the bum every now and again when I start to stall. I seem to start with good intentions and change suppliers give myself a budget,a payment a day and so forth but then I lose focus so even if end up talking to myself it may help :j
Well I have an up to date soa so don't feel I need to do anything on that front at the minute but may have to change it in a couple of weeks as my oh is on yet another temporary contract work wise and we're waiting to find out what's going to happen when it finishes. So getting annoyed with these temporary jobs but that's all he seems to be able to get since the last couple of years. He always seems to get another quite handy but I would just like some stability money wise.
Well I have a 7 year old princess and a 3 year old little man. Oh works full time and I work part time. Not really a job thats so great but needs must and all that.
We currently have about 6 k of debt and although we are servicing it OK, I don't remember a time when I didn't owe anyone anything and I just want to gone now, so have been making extra payments and will get rid of as much as I can this year.
Today has been a bit of hit and miss on productivity/money saving.
Went to tesco to replace faulty Xmas hudl and did not buy anything else while I was there yay :T
Did not use the tumble dryer :T
Entered 2 competitions. :T
Sorted a bag of things to donate. :T
But did go for chinese for tea.
Never mind, shake it off and move on. Must try harder, but 1 slip up will not deter me tomorrow. To be honest thought its probably why I'm 10 St 10 when that puts me in the overweight category. Maybe if I spend less on food I'll lose a few pounds. I'd like to get to 10 stone but the motivation isn't really there.

Well today I have:
Checked Freegle,
Entered 1 competition,
Checked money millionaire (currently at £2.43)
Checked inbox pounds (currently at £2.77)
Am not the winner of the free postcode lottery, but there is always tomorrow
Money saving dinner though we just a had the leftover Chinese :rotfl:
Have full cleaned the little mans room but I'm sure there a mess fairy that follows me around undoing all my good work
All I have spent today is money for 2 gas bottles as we don't have mains has here. Find it much more expensive but the boiler/central heating/water/shower are all heated by the bottles.
On the plus side I haven't wasted any money on anything else today :A0 -
Omg, not the best thing to find when you go to put your son to bed!!
He was happily playing in his room with his cars and poo!!!! He decided it looked so much like his play doh that he would use it as such!!!
Everything all disinfected now thankfully!!! I do not want to have to do that again
Other than that today had been a little uneventful. This time it was the turn of the princesses bedroom. Bigger bed room so more to clean so didn't get round to doing it all but definitely done more than half.
Checked postcode lottery- nope not me lol
Checked money millionaire and inbox pounds
Checked freegle
Entered 3 competitions
Did had to buy electric today and did unfortunately spend some money in tesco on teabags and sugar and a few healthy snacks for the children. No chocolate or sweet snacks even though there was a few on offer. Didn't actually have to spend real cash on the shopping though as I had about £13 left on a gift card I had at Christmas, so not bad. Have updated my soa with current debt totals so will post that tomorrow when I get on the PC, as I really need to be able to see that total going down.0 -
Urgh well looking for a second hand TV now, darling child just broke ours

Refuse to get one from the catalogue so hunting on Facebook selling pages tonight. Now I know why I've started to buy accidental damage with my electrical items. Debating whether contents insurance is worthwhile or not, the excess probably isn't worth it for damaged items I'm guessing. But maybe it's worth it for fire/flood/theft? Not sure.
Went to the dentist today, all good scale and polish only yay no injections lol, and got some yellow sticker bread from asda to put in the freezer as dentist is 2 mins from there.
Well after bill payments today my debt has gone from £5979.69 to £5639.90 so paid £339.79 off :-D go me lol. Won't go this fast every week though unfortunately. But everything helps right.x0 -
Yay husband phoned from work today so say that they had offered him a permanent contract. So glad that we'll have some stability money wise. Dead chuffed lol. Been trying to save some money as a buffer in case the worst happened but now I can throw that at our debts!! Woop woop!! Go husband
:beer::j:j
Anyone I else find that paying off yours debt becomes addictive and you just want to pay is off as quick as you can ??
Another £43 paid off today which brings me to £5596.900 -
You're doing so well in such short time, well done!0

Just had to say I love the title of your diary!
And your son's money saving approach to play - doh Brilliant
if utterly gross.
of course it might cost more in disinfectant! Flaw in the plan......
It does get addictive

Hi!!! Just as I thought I was talking to myself, I get 2 replies. Thank you both so much, I needed something to bring me back to the money saving. After my tv broke, then my daughters Xbox decided to die chewing up her Xmas game with it.and to top it off my kettle broke today so really had lost my mse mojo lol.
Thank you. Going to see tomorrow now if I have any spare £ to pay, or rather pence to pay is more what its going to be.
I did manage to make £3 yesterday tho from cash 4 clothes from my unsellables. Has gone into a pot with the change from when I got petrol. I won't count it until the time comes to bank it so that I'm not tempted to spend it. :cool:0 -
Hi what luck you have had at least you have had your 3 lots of breakdowns ! I go through phases of being very strict and determined on paying debt off. At present I am feeling more motivated. Good luck on your journey. I will subscribe.

Hi shinner, thank you for your reply. Yes hopefully I've had my 3 now!!
Looking at your signature you seem to be doing really well yourself. Well done!
Even if we end up paying them off in fits and starts - as long as those debts are always heading in the right direction then it's all good!!0 -
Well I have scrimped this week. I emptied change tubs and bought less shopping and used my emergency savings to make sure after all the problems this week my debt total did not go up.
Only managed the min payments but that pesky total still came down! Have no emergency fund or anything now so if anything else goes wrong I have nothing to fall back on now except the cards again. So cross fingers and cross everything else too.
So £38.42 taken off my total this time. Better than I thought so  need to build pot back up now though. How much do people think is enough in an emergency pot? Struggling with how much I should try to keep in it. I do still have available on cards thought so should that count towards emergency pot?0
