Pc blocked

I have just been using my PC and went on to the wiziwig sports site to watch the football. I have used this site for a few years now. This time though after i clicked on one of the links a webpage came up proclaiming to be the police and that my browser had been blocked and that it would be unblocked if i paid X amount into an account. I can't get out of he page and it won't let me shut the pc down. I turn it off at the mains and when I go back online the page is there and it won't move. :mad:I have to log in to another account on the pc to use it. Anybody help me please?

It's scareware, try and run a scan using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (free):

Once installed, update and then run a full scan which could take some time ~20-30mins

You might have some luck by killing the browser session from the task menu (ctrl+alt+del) then search for your browser (Internet Explorer for example) and then end the task.

well well, a great big thanks guys, all seem s clear now as I'm back on my account :-) I used the method above off NiftyDigits first as that seemed so simple and it worked. I don't ask to many questions on here but when I do, the answers are more than helpful so a big thanks to you all and have a great new year.
Another learning lesson :-)
