Date of default...is this right??

Hi there,

I took out a loan of £12500 with black horse in January 2008. The loan term was 60 months, and therefore should have been settled in January 2013.

due to lots of reasons the loan went into arrears, about 12 months after it was taken out. It has been in arrears ever since, and black horse sent us a default notice, and we have since been paying what we can afford via arrangements with them. We have paid through a debt collection agency for several years now. We have always kept to the arrangements made.

I noticed that the default was only registered on my credit file in February 2013. This is along time after the account actually defaulted. When I checked with the company who administered the loan they said that defaults only get added to your file at the end of the original term of the loan...is this right???

Surely the default should be on your credit file when it actually defaulted??

Thank you

Kirstie

Complain, In writing. Should be issued within 6 months. If they reject your complaint, refer to FOS.

Arrangements can cloud things a bit, but to do what they have is utterly wrong.

Have a look at this if you want to know the ins and outs of what they should do. Useful to quote on your complaint.
