Tiling over a vinyl/thermoplastic kitchen floor?

Options
Hello all,

Looking for some advice please. We want to tile (hard ceramic tiles) over our horrible kitchen floor (left by old owner!). It's original covering was thermoplastic tiles (may contain asbestos according to surveyor's report we had done) then lino was laid over top by previous owner.

When we moved in half the lino was still on the floor and the rest was the original tiles. I realise now (only after a bit of research!) that we can't just tile over this floor covering - but would we be okay to do the following:

Lay self-leveller and tile over that? The fact that the tiles might contain asbestos means we don't want to start taking them up and having them crack etc. and also laying wood on top first would be a pain - cutting it out to fit round units etc.

Can anyone advise? Thank you.
