Car hire purchase

I currently have a car on hire purchase which is costing me £154 per month for the finance and £120 every 6 months for road tax.

I am expecting my first child in March and looking to make cuts where i can. I have paid more than half the car so far, how does handing it back and terminating my contract work. I may need to try and save for a run around.
