Fix my dryer!

Options
Hi my dryer has stopped heating up - everything else seems to be working fine. This has happened before and the guy that came to fix it just pressed a reset button (I didnt own it then). I've looked all over the dryer but cant find a button anywhere.
The dryer is a hotpoint aquarium TL61. Pleae help!

Thanks,

J

It could be the thermostat controlling the heating element (known as 3/3" safety stat). You need to open the back/front whichever gives you access to the heating element and you will see the thermostat. Press the reset of the stat (on the stat itself) either a little pin or a metallic disc (power off of course). This should sort things out

    Hi J,

Mr Warren is right but on the Aquarius dryers the stats burn out all the time, very common. The good news is that they're pretty easy to change and not that expensive.

But if you try to let it complete the cool down cycle before opening the door it probably won't happen. Everyone does it and it pops these safety stats on almost all dryers and washer dryers.

  • thanks i'll have another look. I saw the elements but could see no sign of what to press. I'll have another look tomorrow and hopefully spot something i can press.

    thanks for the replies
