i have recently been left a property which is currently rented out, at present it has no gas connected and is heated via electic radiators, all be that they are old..i would appreciate opionions on whether it is worth investing in having gas put into the property and then gas central heating? the property is a middle terraced. and any ideas of howmuch it would cost.
Thanks in advance

If you are going to live there or want to do it up to sell on then I'd advise gas ch. If it's for rental then electric heating is fine.
I'm currently house hunting & won't consider a property that has electric heating & no gas supply.
If there is no gas in the property at all then you need to contact the local supplier to find out how much it would cost to run a gas supply into your home. I believe it depends on how far the gas main is from your house, but I'm sure somebody else here may have further knowledge. I know the company used to be Transco, but not sure if it still goes by the same name. Somebody at British Gas should be able to tell you anyway.
Having an average ch system installed should cost around £2500, but if no ch in property currently then you may qualify for a grant towards installation. Check with your local council to see if they know of such a scheme. You would need a gas supply for this though as you can't get help with that. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
What cattie said, but if you simply can't get gas into the property, eg. it's in a rural location, then there is a really good electric heating system which uses water filled radiators, if you want to post back after you've researched whehter gas is available, I will try to find proper details for you. We put it into a London flat and it's pretty swish
They calculate for you how many radiators you need by your room sizes.
If gas is available, you will have to pay a fair sum to get the house connected to mains - I can't remember off hand, about £400 I think. That would be in addition to the CH installation as the actual Gas Co have to do it.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
