Sharing this post I made a few days ago in response to a "bargain" diffuser:VfM4meplse wrote: »I've been given one before, which I used but would never buy one myself, especially since catching this gem on UK TV Home in the small hours on morning.
An OS posting I know, but we're approaching the last quarter of the financial year which for me is usually a fiscal diet. I'm just entering the kingdom of tightwad a few days early.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

the only reed diffusers I have used that seem to have a lot of smell are the Air Wick ones. I have one of these in the bathroom, it was in the living room but it gave me a headache as it was so strong0

I was given a nice reed diffuser in a pretty bottle as a present some time ago, which I put in the bathroom. After a while the liquid disappeared / was used up, so I bought a cheap lavender one from A!dis, which I decanted from its rather plain container back into the pretty bottle. It smells fine, and the pretty container still looks nice0

I love reed diffusers, and have tried many.
I had one from airwick which I bought in A1di for £3-something and it was very strong, I liked the smell but it had the potential to be overpowering.
I had one from Ritua1s which was £15 and it was rubbish! You had to have your nose an inch away to smell anything.
I currently have two on the go, one from TK Maxx which was reduced to £7ish and it is subtle but nice; got a slightly aftershavey small to it so it is fresh.
In he bathroom I have an A1di own brand one in vanilla which was £2.99 and is lovely.
My favourite smelly purchase though, is my aroma diffuser. Not exactly MSE at £40 for the unit but it looks lovely. I use Sainsbos home fragrance oils in it and it runs for around 6 hours on one refill (80ml water and 3 drops of oil). I smoke in my bedroom (naughty, I know) and this does a great job of concealing the whiff.0 -
Add quite a few drops of oil (I used about 10-15) to a tablespoon of cheap vodka, add this to a cup full of cooled boiled water. Place in a pretty narrow necked jar or bottle and add some skewers. Worked well in our small living room.0

I seriously can't be a$$ed making my own, I know it's moneysaving but this year I seem to be all thumbs and bad temper - i just haven't got the patience for anything crafty. Apart from knitting. Is odd because for years and years I made everything myself that I could.
I will get one from M&S half price sale and see what it's like, thank you all. re burners I am not near any pound shops or bargain shops, so ebay is better for me. Ta very much OSE-ers0 -
If the fragrance is too strong just remove some of the reeds.0

My lovely girl gave me a £40 voucher for Jo Malone for Christmas...I've been looking at what to spend it on...My fav scent is the red roses..I already have the perfume, but don't want to buy more as don't wear it often enough to have a second bottle. The shower gel/body lotion would be nice, but at £32 for 250ml, I know I'd be too scared to actually use it..so I was thinking of the reed diffuser..but it's £48 - gulp! Which seems ridiculous to me, so I need to be sure it's as worth as it can be (I know it can't ever be, but you know what I mean)..so, anyone else ever had one? XxM.A.C.A.W member number 39
