Um, quite the opposite. Java is a massive massive security risk for all browsers. The advice has been for the last year to disable Java, from as high up as the US' dept of homeland security.
Basically there's a Java weakness that allows cybercriminals to access your browser & computer & install whatever they like... and the scary thing is that you do not even need to click on anything. Just simply browsing a website that has dodgy code on it can allow it in.
They've patched Java multiple times to no avail, so none of the updates have solved it because Java is fundamentally flawed, the hackers easily find a way round.
I'm really surprised how few people know about this- it got a lot of publicity last year, because it was this Java weakness that was responsible for facebook's HQ to be hacked, despite the fact they were all using Mac computers which are resistant to viruses and trojans.
Seriously folks, if you haven't disabled Java on your browser, you're running a v v high risk. Its not a very useful plug-in. Hardly any websites need it in order to run. I've had mine disabled for a year now and its not bothered me in the least.
I dont get any !!!!!! or annoying pop ups on the encrave either.
If you don't trust my word, i'd beseech you to google 'Java security weakness' or even "department of homeland security Java" and see for yourselves.
:-(
Java is a huge security threat, do not click on random links promising to update it.
I just close the windows asking me to update Java and open the link again, I get 1 or 2 Java warning windows out of every 20.0 -
The other one was about the proposed legislation about smoking in cars for 50sbs, but it hasn't credited. It says my answers are being reviewed. Never had that before on a dashboard survey. Is that normal?
I had that too! I thought it was because I was too quick with my answers. Could've done with the 50 points too

Of course, it's entirely up to you if you want to continue to have Java enabled. My post is not about how to get the encrave to work, its to warn people about the dangers of having Java enabled at all. Java is simply not necessary for the encrave to run. Thats just a fact.
But if you want it enabled, you have it enabled. But I would feel irresponsible to not warn you & everyone else here that its a massive risk for no real benefit & would urge people to do their homework about it.Swagbucks since 28 Jan £125 ~//~ Various Research Projects £230 ~//~ Clixsense since 3 Mar $488.52 ~//~ (Total £365 + $488.52)0 -

Firefox has the element of Java that's a security issue blocked and/or warns you about it if it's going to be used by a page. There are a few things that use Java that I use. I only update Java via the official Java update and via Firefox's update plugins.0

The prompt to update Java doesn't have much to do with the Java software. It's just a scam to get you to download a malicious file that doesn't come from java makers (oracle).
I've also had prompts to update Adobe Acrobat on Radio App which didn't come from adobe either. People click 'ok' to download and end up with all sorts of stuff.
So I suggest folk should ignore any prompt to update your computer that comes from Swagbucks, other GPT site or browsing the web. And only update using the software or from website you are certain belongs to software maker. Like Microsoft.com or Adobe.com, and not Abobby.dom0
