Video evidence in court? Advice? Experiences?

With regards to making a video recording of someone (in this case an abusive neighbour acting in a threatening and aggressive way) for use as evidence in court, google search has told me the following different things;
1) That you must inform the person that you are recording them for use as evidence for it to be admissible in court.
2) That if you are making the recording on your own private property, that you do not need to inform them that you are recording them.
3) That if the video shows a criminal act taking place (in this case harassment) then you do not need to inform them that you are recording them.
BUT, in order to know for definite which is correct I am trying to find the exact piece of legislation and section which details what is and is not admissible in court in terms of making video recordings of people for use as evidence. I've been trawling through http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ for most of the evening trying to find this but if anyone knows more specifically where I need to look then this would be very helpful and save time!
Also, I would be very interested to hear if anyone on here has ever had first hand experience of this sort of situation? Specifically, taking a neighbour to court for harassment and using video/audio as evidence. Were there any restrictions on how the video was used?

You can not take anyone to court unless you plan to try a private prosecution..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

We are seeking to take him to the civil courts with the aim of obtaining an injunction and claiming compensation. I should add this doesn't relate to me directly but to a relative who has suffered extreme emotional distress as a result of the neighbours actions towards her which have included threats of physical violence.0 -

My understanding is that even if you are recording on your own property, you must have a sign up informing people that they are being/may be recorded.
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
My friend has experience harassment and distressing behaviour from her neighbour - which the police are dealing with. I'm wondering why the police don't appear to be involved? Is your friend reporting each incident? Is it rented or privately owned?0

You are going to film them while they are standing on your property?
Are you afraid of them?0 -
I would strongly suggest that you or your relative join the Neighbours from Hell forum, and ask there. The members on there are extremely knowledgeable about this sort of situation.
