Chaenomeles - Japonica

Having a prowl around my garden this afternoon during a dry spell! Should I remove the fruit from my Chaenomeles or will it just drop off when it wants?

  • I used to take them off in my previous garden just to take the burden off the plant. I believe you can make quince jelly

Thanks. I think I will take them off as I don't really want to make quince jelly.
  • Why not leave them, there's sure to be a bird or insect who can get a meal off them.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I think if you Re not using them they make a feature in the bleak grey days.

I do however think you are lucky they are hanging on! Mine are long gone, and one of mine has been reflowering for a while. :(. Of course weather is far too horrid to enjoy it.

A couple dropped off a while ago but the birds have totally ignored them.
