Advertised service not there, how much refund am I entitled to?

Hi all,
Will try to keep this short...
Booked a restaurant abroad at a hilton for Christmas Day at a cost of >£200 for four of us. Advertised brochure and confirmation email said five course meal followed by live entertainment 'dance the night away' which then wasn't there on the night.
Emailed manager next day to complain and after various emails, have been told he would refund us £10/person (he is very sorry and tried to offer us various meals and drinks there again which we had to refuse due to us leaving the country as our holiday had ended). I don't find this reasonable, do I have a case to ask for more?
Thanks for any help

I suppose it depends on how much they value each part of the experience at, If they count the five course meal as £40 and the entertainment as just £10 then it is very reasonable and does sound very reasonable for the cost of a five course meal on christmas day. I've seen the worst local places charging more than that for a three course Xmas meal with no entertainment.

Have to agree with Fosterdog, the cost of the meal element for Christmas Day does sound incredibly cheap, especially for 5 courses. The offer of a refund of £10 pp is very fair in my opinion.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

£200 for four? Blimey.... I was reading the Xmas Day menu on a shuttered and battered beach hut cafe just a week ago .... and they were charging £45 each, without entertainment or palatial surroundings!

5 courses: starter, sorbet, main, Xmas pud, mince pie brownie/coffee.

I know the extortionate cost of local English places, and would never pay to go out here... But if I did and they advertised something that they then didn't offer, I would complain there too!
  • Just checked my bills and it was £70 per person, not £50... Sorry

I thought it was extortionate for being rushed in and out if the restaurant within 2 hours, when that was not what we booked for. Meal not brilliant, even in nice surroundings, drinks a lot extra on top too...

Abroad where? How can we compare 'abroad' with UK prices?
