I've just received an email from Nectar on-line, advising that for every £1 raised from OXFAM charity shop sales, the donator will receive 2 Nectar points...
:money:
PLUS 100 NECTAR Points for signing up here:
https://www.oxfam.org.uk/donate/donate-goods/tag-your-bag/gift-aid-signup
:money:
"Every time you Tag Your Bag and donate goods to Oxfam shops, we can claim 25% Gift Aid from the government. And that means your donations will be worth even more to people living in poverty worldwide. Collect 2 Nectar points per £1 your donations raise. What's more, if you donate your unwanted items to our shops for the Mother Appeal before 31 March 2014, the UK government will match the money your goods raise, pound for pound."

[Obviously you have to register for gift aid, so that your donations are registered to you and you can receive your Nectar points].

...Apologies if this news has already appeared in the charities forum - I did have a search before posting this new thread, but was unable to locate anything relating to this new Nectar point scheme. ;)

Useful to know. Hopefully other charities will be able to do the same going forward.

As well as this, in our area at least, Oxfam shops are still giving out an M&S voucher for £5 off a £35 clothes etc shop, as long as you point out something in the donation which is an M&S item.

M&S don't seem to publicise this any more, now they are doing their "Shwopping", but I've had several Oxfam vouchers recently and they are very useful when having to buy things at full price. They last until the end of the month you give the donation in, and at the very end of a month you may get offered one for the following month as an option, if they have both in the till.

This is a good way of getting some kind of "refund" on some M&S thing you took a punt on when reduced to a non-returnable silly price, which turned out not to fit the person you bought it for......
