  • Apologies - I didn't realise that my father would be classed as 'self-funded' as the local council pay part of his fees. I thought self-funded was paying everything yourself - sorry. Still don't believe he should get it though, as the home (business) pays for the bills and still manage to make a rather tidy profit.

    This is interesting as I thought they would get it regardless. Just that if they are totally funded by the local authority then the resident would only get the spending money & the local authority would keep the rest as with any normal payment.

    The above are only right in part, you can get it in a care home at half share BUT only if not in receipt of pension credit. If they got pension credit then they would not get the payment full stop, funding status is not the relevant bit.
