Custom Printed Parcel Boxes - Recommendations?

Options
Hi guys,

Apologies if this is not the correct forum for a query of this type but I thought that if a lot of you reading are in the small business field, you may well have some suggestions :)

I am looking to start up a new business in the first quarter of 2014 and am looking at packaging for my products. This does not have to be anything too fancy, infact I am looking at plain corrugated card parcel boxes but which will have the company logo printed on it.

I've contacted a few online custom printers but haven't had much luck back as yet - either they require a minimum order of 1000s printed, or there is an upfront charge for the stencil/plate to be produced.

I certainly don't mind paying some upfront cash if I know the product/service will be good and I always like to go on recommendations if possible.

Hopefully you guys n gals will be able to help or at least point me down the correct path!

Cheers!
2015 - I am determined to lose at least 3 stone in weight and I must pay off at least one of my credit cards...If I keep telling myself, I might start believing it!!! :D

Is custom printed packaging a "nice to have" or is an integral part of your business?

If its a nice to have i'd be running with standard packaging in the meantime to keep costs down. I cant think of any company i've bought from *only* because they have nice packaging.

The trick with any new business is keeping costs to an absolute minimum.

You could always get some sticky labels printed to stick on your plain boxes

Make up a rubber stamp and then the world's your oyster! Cheap, easy, versatile, convenient, make your own jiffy bags or stickers or boxes branded in a second. Agree with above, startup cash flow is king, easy to over commit, I know I made some poor purchase choices early on which I regretted at leisure!
  • Excellent suggestions guys - thank you! I'd not even thought of whapping stickers on plain boxes....or stamping so I'm certainly going to explore these suggestions.

As you've all noted, it's all about cutting costs to begin with and that's something I'm very keen to keep to a minimum!

Thanks again one and all :))
