what sort of food do you like eating?

what sort of basics do you have in your house already (flour, rice, pasta etc?)

    hi misstique

This is what i have thrown into the slow cooker today.....

2 pork loin steaks cut into cubes
    2 onions cut into wedges
    1 red pepper chopped
    5 new potatoes sliced
    2 tspoon mixed herbs

Fried the pork for 5 mins to seal then put the other stuff in for another 5 mins

I then put it in the slow cooker with......

    Handfull of chopped mushrooms
half tin of baked beans (in fridge from yesterday)
    tin of chopped tomatoes
    tbspoon of broth mix
    2 oxo cubes sprinkled on
boiling water from the kettle to cover

Its been bubbling away for bout 5 hours
    Will be dishing up soon

There will be enough for me and my son today and at least another 2 portions for tomorrow/freezer.

    hth

Have you tried asking on Freecycle or www.dontdumpthat.com for a cooker or is it space that is an issue ?

I'll be honest I don't use my cooker a huge amount, mainly for pasta, rice etc.

With the waste of food, if you cook too much you can usually freeze it for later, most things can be frozen if you're throwing a lot away. Keeping a list of what you buy (easy just keep receipts) what you eat and what you throw away might help you see where you are overspending and need to cut back.
One day I might be more organised...........
