Stallion choice is between two now (got it right down!) Arvico http://www.vauterhillstud.co.uk/arvico.html and What a Caper http://www.vauterhillstud.co.uk/whatacaper.html I love love LOVE Caper, but Arvico is the sensible choice for this year,in case I have to sell. Arvico is the sire of one of the top horses in Ireland at the moment - hence the interest if we went to him. so its going to be Arvico this year, and What a Caper next year. And lots of finger crossing that it works this time!!!

Im so relieved to find other horsey people on here, horses have an amazing way of joining people :D Sorry to hear about everyones injuries, sometimes I think us horsey girls are just a bit too tough and we dont ever get things checked out until its too late - I didnt worry about my neck until it occurred to me that I shoudlnt really hurt still over a year on, and by then it was far too late to do anything other than deal with the consequences!!

Moved evans to vanquis. (cant remember if I said that on thursday) so one down and will be ending up elsewhere next week. :)

  • Both crackers :) Fingers crossed she takes OK. I only ever bred one foal, the mare twinned and the stud advised having one pinched out, but the other one went on to make 17.3hh out of 16hh and 16.1hh parents!

    Lol,well why not?? ;)
I've bred one before successfully, he's 15 this year (omg!!) and is off show jumping and dressage with a lovely man. Useless racehorse but universally loved by all who meet him. (He's a great huge dollop of loveliness!!)

Red (in my avatar) unfortunately I lost 18 months ago, she bred 6 foals who were all very successful racehorses, unfortunately she aborted twice for me, and then she had some
Catastrophic injury that meant I lost her. Everything is crossed that grape can be what id like her to be, but if not, then hey ho, these things happen....

New nationwide card arrived today, so can get the vanquis balance transferred over and start getting rid of some at a better rate. With a bit of luck I will be able to put the HSBC on there as well - but possibly not....

Have a good one people :)

Finally feeling like I'm getting somewhere.

Nationwide will let me put cards in any old name on mine, so as well as paying vanquis over to them, I've been able to move the majority of HSBC (which is in mums name) over as well. Yay!!!!!!! All switched bar about 150, but I can overpay into nationwide and transfer the rest this month - luckily I've got a deal for transfers on my card that is no fees and 4.9% for a year, so that was a super suprise!!!

Less of a super suprise is the discovery his week that one of my dogs has got to go for a CT scan (booked for Friday) and that will be around £2000 if they do everything. She's insured, but my vets have faffed so much (which is also my fault - it's taken me six months to put my foot down and say I'm not happy treating symptoms) that I'm not sure how much I will get back. Hey ho - we need to know what is going on, if only for my peace of mind.

Evans is now gone. I think I might be £6/7 in credit with vanquis, will probably go and use it to put £10 in the car so that I can get rid next statement. Nationwide is up to 3650, mbna is similar as I haven't touched that and HSBC is down to about £200, plan is to pay a lump into nationwide card so I can finish HSBC with another transfer to get that done at 4.9% as well....

Grape also has an appointment Friday, stud stuff and vaccines and maybe her teeth - already paid most of that though, the new girl at work needed to learn how to take card payments over the phone and over the counter so my account is now in credit and I'm currently my bosses favourite nurse cos I'm the only one not owing money!!

    Getting there....

When Smokey was finally diagnosed with arthritis in both his hocks, we were 11 months from me first taking him to the vets with a limp - they couldn't believe that a dog of his age could have osteo-arthritis and kept dismissing it as an exercise-related strain or sprain. PetPlan paid up for absolutely everything. Their policy asks you to notify them as soon as you think you might need to claim, but it was only at 11 months that we finally got a proper diagnosis that brought all the previous visits together and they will (or at least used to) consider up to 12 months of related historical bills. Fingers crossed it'll be the same for you and hope your dog is on the mend soon :)

It's a pain in the backside - I've said for three months that I would rather they referred her to make sure that there's nothing sinister going on - but the last three visits they have given me more steroids and told me "next time" and the last time I took her back I put my foot down. I don't mind if she has to be on a low dose of steroids forever, she can have an inhaler - but I'm not prepared to do that without being 100% certain there's nothing sinister going on. Her tracheal wash and BAL both come back as just chronic inflammation, so steroids long term is the suppressant - but she's only 5 so it's not happening without knowing for sure that inflammation is all that it is.
Thankfully they have already accepted the claim, so it shouldn't be an issue for them to pay out this time as well, it's more that I don't know how much we've already spent.... Still, anything back is good !!!!

    They are heartbreaking aren't they!!!!

WELL - did well at keeping this up to date didnt I ....

Updates - because i REALLY need to get my !!!! in gear now.

    1) Grape is still in foal. ( yay!!) due at the end of March or thereabouts. Planning to return to the same stud for a match with their newest stallion who has had his offspring over in France banging in group wins all year. I didnt like him the first time I saw him, but when I went back to collect Grape I was shown him again and liked him a lot more - also when I add that to the ability of the horses hes got running, its a bit of a no-brainer.

    2) I am also in foal - and due in the next week. They have threatened me with induction next Friday if she doesnt appear by then, I REALLY dont want to be induced, so Im going to start every assisting way I can find to jiggle her along.... any ideas greatfully recieved !

    3) Mostly becuase of 2, cards are up again, and I also have an aqua card extra to my original list. Got in a bit of a pickle with them in October, but I think Ive sorted that out now - so I can work on getting rid of as many as possible.

    4) Dogs are all ok - despite the odd blip here and there. Staffy is still a fussy !!!!!! with his food, Crossbreed is getting fussy as well - but golden retriever is eating everything in sight, so shes happy...

Off we go for 2015 then - Happy New Year anyone else coming along!!! :D

Happy new year Trudi, I have been wondering how you all are, I know nothing at all about pregnancy, birth etc., but I hope that little miss decides to venture into the big wide world very soon and without intervention:)
