As long as he didnt forget the heatsink... :whistle::whistle::whistle:
I had a computer fail to startup. Sitting on the floor with it on my lap. I reseat all the wires and RAM / CPU etc.
Still nothing. Pop the mains off, Reset the BIOS and repeat. Still nothing.
After several attempts i made shortcuts. Didnt fit the heatsink. Bloody typical the thing decided it was going to startup. I think sod it..Hit the power switch.. Too late a small brown burn spot had already appeared on the CPU.

they've got a cut out circuit in them these days- to shut down before they boil - in theory still good for a fan after - but I'd still be wary getting to that stage because it's bound to fry a few transistors ...0
