Hi , i can not decided which to go with ( free version) Avast seems to have more bells and whistle ,whilst BD seems to out score Avast in most of the lab the tests .
What are others views between the to ?
I assume BD free has the same database engine as the paid for versions?

Both received favorable reviews in the latest issue of Computer Shopper. Avast and BitDefender.
Personally I'd take the free software, ensure I was running a limited-user-account and just stay away from random iffy webpage googling.
That said, £16 for BitDefender is pretty reasonable. The scanning engine will almost certainly be the same, but chances are the extra features in the paid for version might be superfluous to your needs anyway.
If you're happy to pay, Kaspersky seems to remain the best of the best.0 -
I quite regularly peruse a security forum online, and from what I gather there BitDefender free version rates pretty low in many regards. And if I remember right, I think I read that it's an 'on demand' scanner only, so no real-time protection. At least the last time I looked. I'd (and do) choose Avast.0
