Moving from XP to 7

I am moving from my old XP netbook to my son's hand me down Windows 7 laptop.
I notice some differences, mainly in transferring audio files onto my Nokia x2. On my XP netbook I could move files or copy them. On windows 7 I only seem able to copy them.
Is there a way to change the default?

The File Explorer Help will explain it... on the same disk drive it will move the file between directories but to a different drive it will copy it...
I tend to just 'cut' and 'paste' the files from one to another (Ctrl+X & Crtr+V, or right mouse click) and have done so since before XP!
