Can you helpme with links please?
Conversation got around to holidays last night.
We have been to Morzine in the French Alps lots in summer. Love the walking, swimming, cycling, fresh air!
Would like somewhere similar possibly a bit cheaper when we got there and also a little warmer.
Could you recommend similar places, money not an issue and would like to go self catering!
Family group of maybe 6-8?
Many thanks
Ian

There's loads of cycling, walking and plenty of sunshine in the Sierra Nevada in Andalucia.
There's not a lot of waymarked trails so using a guide company is wise to get the most out of your time, most of them will take you along for the day rather than having to book the full stay with them.
I can recommend Sierracycling.com - based in Fuengirola, they cater for all abilities
Loads of cheap accommodation and food etc. available in that neck of the woods.
If you're looking for advanced level mountain biking check out http://www.ciclomontana.com/
The NW of Spain is good too - http://www.basquemtb.com/ are good guides or you could look at that area in general.
Also plenty to do around Torbole at the top of Lake Garda but I'm not sure if it'll be any warmer than than Morzine/Chamonix etc.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
Italy - with day trips into Switzerland if you fancy it. Some of the Italian alpine resorts are stunning - with lake swimming available too -Austria would have some interesting options in some of the mountain or lake resorts.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Canary islands. I think pretty much any of them would fit the bill, but maybe GC more so.0

Zell-am-see Austria, possibly not warmer, but just as pretty, if not more so. Plenty to do, with activities on the lake and mountains as well !!
When we went in summer it was plenty warm enough to swim in the lake.0 -
I would say Italy too, one of the low mountain resorts within distance of the lakes. Or Switzerland, although it snowed last time we were there in August, still absolutely stunning though and soooo much to do.
I can't see the parallel with Canaries though :think:Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
The Tyrol is lovely and can be surprisingly warm in the summer. We had a lovely self catering week in St Gilgen last summer, having flown into Salzburg and caught the coach there. We managed on foot, buses and cycle hire and had a fab time, and we spent a day in Salzburg en route for a contrast. We came back fit, bronzed and not overspent. It was a fab escape.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0

one of my fav places in the world, the lovely village of Les Diablerets, in Switzerland - mountains, lakes, chocolate, cheese - it has it all and the village has an outdoor pool and if you stay in the apartments that we stay in, they have an indoor pool too - we have been there in the summer and it was lovely, you also get a free pass to go up the cable car to the top of the mountains - lake Geneva is not far and if you are driving, its 550 miles from Calais and if you go via Germany you can stop off and go to fantasialand en route too
we went to the lovely chocolate factory near by, Gryeres is also close so you can see cheese being made and go to the citadel too - it really is packed full of lovely things to do and see and the scenery is amazing0
