Hi there. I reckon you'll make savings living on your own. When is your mobile contract due to expire? There are some good deals about which could save you money here. For example mine has halved recently.

Ref Gas and Elec do check out the energy trust website there are some great articles on how to save energy and money as a result. One thing a lot of people I know do is have multiple entertainment running at the same time. e.g they are looking at you tube etc online whilst the TV is on. You could also checkout on Uswitch or similar site which prepay company is cheapest. Though it may depend how you prefer to top up.

Your sky does seem high. I only have landline and internet. My internet is £5 a month. I checked out what competitors offered and got them to match it. Even if I added the entertainment package it would still only come to £40 a month rather than the £60 you have down. You need to research what offers are on elsewhere then ring the disconnections department (they have more access to deals). You don't ask to be disconnected. You explain you are unhappy that you are paying £60 when you have seen a better deal elsewhere (give them the details) and would like to know if sky can match it. It may take a bit of negotiation.

Ref water, at £22.50 I am guessing you are on a meter? In which case you will make savings. I am in a one bed flat. first year on meter payments were set at £20 pm. Next year had paid too much so they were reduced to £9.44 pm. I am expecting them this year to balance out at about £12-13 pm. You can save water easily without compromising health and hygiene.

As others have said cut the gym or look for a cheaper one!! Here we have a big name gym which costs a fortune. The local council run ones are a fraction of the cost.

You could also cut back on your entertainment costs. Not saying go without, but look at what you do. If you have a meal out for example, you can save by going to a different restaurant. Also if you have a drink, check out the prices of different similar drinks again you can make savings.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

thanks for the advise every one.

with the gym its the weights that im after not so much tbe cardio. I will have to look around but I know most around here are around that price mark.

ill have to check with the water as im not sure if its a meater or estamate. I called before and said look im on my own now and dont use that much water at all. a shower a day for what 5-10 mins and I was up once or twice a day thats all. washinge prob a most 2-3 time a week.

ill check out the sky with u switch and see whats around. as im not getting full service but paying full price because of a communial dish issue.

as for the soa and clothing I was not 100% on how to do it. things like clothing I do t budgit for I just get as needed not very often either. plus most of it comes from online store on buy now pay later. other than the small things like pants socks odd t shirts.

my bank phoned me yesterday to go through my account and basic sales call and they were offering me a lone to get out my over draft. I said I would think about it but there thery was have the loan pay the over draft and just pay back a set amount over 2half years.

I think they said it was 19% apr on it. she said this should reduce after every couple of month and could just apply for another and and do that. she thought payment would be around the 70 pound mark a month.

in my head I pay 20 a month charges/ intrest but can reduce it each month to get rid of it that way.

I was pre approved for a creadit cart with 28 months intrest free which I went ahead and applied for but think I will be rejected. will know in a few days.

I dont think the loan is a good option. what do you think.

I need to take out contence insurance soon as well so another cost. but im worried as im on my owen. if the worst shoukd happen I would have nothing.
  • If you're on a water meter, why not shower at the gym?

So I have spoken with sky now and I have been given Broadband free for 1 year and £5 off each month on my line rental. Taking my bill down to £48.87.

The next step is to sort out the TV and Multi room. I can get the multi room dropped down to £2.50 a month with out changing any thing which will take the bill to £40.40 a month.

Just need to try and sort this Satellite dish problem out now. As I cant record 2 shows at once, there still saying they want £65 to put a dish up which I am not paying. may be try £65 knocked off the bill over the year lol.

    edit
Also turns out im not on a water meter but assessed household charge AHC, and cant get a meter. I have to send in a form to get single occupants tariff which i never released. So should have a rebate there or deduction.

Well done on negotiating down your broadband etc.

Now that there's just you, you don't need Multi-room. You may want it, but you don't need it.

I think you've just had a flicker, your lightbulb definitely hasn't switched on. The MSE mantra is do I NEED it, if I NEED it where can I get it cheaper, and can I get cashback on the cheapest deal.

A loan is a terrible idea, that's compounding the problem.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

You may be right about the multi room, I fo watch tv in my bed room and with me getting a lodger then I know ill be in there more. And to still keep the full service for 2.50 a month is pretty good.

That was my thoughts with the loan as well, it dont sound like a good idea.

£2.50 is pretty good for multi room but if you wanted to cancel it why not get one of those magic eye things? That way you can still watch sky in another room but you don't need the subscription. You can get them in most electrical shops and on eBay for pretty cheap. My folks use this as they refused to pay for multi room :)
    Car loan as of 01/01/2014 :[STRIKE] £3282.28[/STRIKE] 01/02/14 £2289.17 (36 month term started 09/2013 39.9%)
