Good luck with giving up smoking. £4.50 a day = £140 a month, and it is insane for this much money to go up in smoke, never mind the health issues. If you succeed in this you will find a huge relief on your spending and can probably keep the gym and even the sky package, though Freesat provides dozens of channels at no subscription.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

Gym - if you keep it on, then shower there, wash and dry your hair there.
Make lunch the evening before, or take leftovers from dinner. If you're a coffee addict, never buy takeaway coffee - invest in a cafeteria (check out your charity shops) and get ground coffee from Aldi: make your coffee at work. I'm lucky that where I work the tea/coffee/milk/sugar is provided, but not everyone has that luxury.
Make sure you use a cashback site for major purchases. I got over £100 back last year after researching the best prices, for things I was buying anyway.
Lodger - aim for someone who wants a room for Monday - Thursday nights, that way you get the benefit of their rental but still have your own space at the weekend.
Wishing you a happy, debt-free 2014What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -

I think you've entered Road Tax incorrectly. You said earlier you pay it twice yearly, but it isn't £80 per month is it?What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0
-
you hardly use any petrol, why not ditch the car & gym & try walking, cycling to work?Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0

I have thought about giving up the car, but that would leave me in a position I dont wantbto be in with transport.
I really cant see any thing else to cut now.
Ill search the house for bits I can sell. Will see if I can balande transfer one of my cards to the other existing card.
Thats it0 -
Your road tax needs adjusting as it's not £80 per month.
I would get rid of the sky and landline as you have a mobile. I would also do without the gym. Once your out of debt you can reinstate them.Grocery Challenge 2024

Do you really never ever buy any item of clothing? Socks, underwear, shoes, coats, work out outfits?0

Hi asoe209
Further to previous comments about gym - a recommendation I would make from personal experience is finding your local parkrun event. These are free 5k runs which take place at 9am on Saturday mornings at hundreds of venues around the country. There is a huge range of people at these events, from top athletes to social runners and parents pushing their buggies around, and the atmosphere is always extremely convivial. Plodding along on a treadmill for £50 a month cannot compete with that - just my opinion!
