Energy Unit Prices

Why don't suppliers display their unit prices tariffs in an easily accessible place. The comparison sites are always based on previous use and just show what, if at all, you can save but I want to see each suppliers unit price and compare that way-there must be a list available somewhere?

  • yes Welcome...just going to look at the links but just what I would like to know too....Can anyone find a table/spreadsheet with standing charges per day, unit prices on kw useage (eco 7 too) exit penalties. The sort of thing that gets updated...or perhaps an enterprising computer literate on here could get a UK utility wiki going we could all update as we find new deals?

Most of the comparison sites have all that information, energyhelpline does, usually in a pop up box under tariff details. The raw information is of little use unless you want to compile your own spreadsheet for each supplier. The overall picture is what you need to compare prices.

  • Ukpower show " tariff details " of your chosen supplier. I agree. its good to see the exact pence per kwhr and daily standing charge. I am afraid I am a "tariff tart " with virtually everything

http://www.energylinx.co.uk display all the info for your existing tariff and any tariff that comes up on your comparison list. These can then be displayed side by side to make an easy comparison of unit and standing charges.

It’s already in hand and covered by supplier license conditions coming into force in March 2014.

What you are requesting will be known as a Tariff Information Label (TIL). There will be a TIL for each Region/Fuel/Payment Type/Product/meter, and each TIL will display the unit rates/Standing charges/DF discount/Online Discount/Exit Fees applicable. The format of the TIL is explicitly provided by OFGEM so it should be easy to compare between suppliers.

TILs for your specific tariff will be sent to you with every annual statement, product closure letter and price change letter. To view other TILs you will be able to ring up each supplier and request they be sent to you or go onto each suppliers website and view them yourself.

An example TIL can be seen here:
