UKPC Parked in Disabled Persons Space

Options
Dear Forum

I am not entirely sure if I should pay a ticket to UKPC

They have sent me a final reminder "invoice" for parking in a disabled person space in Wickes car park when I am not disabled

I imagine some people on the forum will be unsympathetic but I still think £100 for this infraction is too much.

I have heard I can appeal to popla but I don't know if this is the route to take

Any advice grateful recieved

You won't get much sympathy here for parking in disabled bays when you don't need that provision! These bays are for people who need reasonable adjustment to live their lives as normal as possible, don't do it again!!

In terms of this ticket, a few questions

    1) is this England or Wales ?
    2) are you the registered keeper?
    3) is this a ticket on car or through the post?
    4) what is date of ticket, and date of notice to keeper?

    Thanks

  • That's fair comment and I won't defend myself further other than to say that no disabled person was deprived of a spot that day.

    -It was England and Wales
    -I am the registered keeper
-It was a "final reminder" through the post. It looked like junk mail so I nearly didn't open it.

the parking charge date is 9/11/2013

    The letter is dated 27/12/2013

    Thank you

The letter dated the 27th is that your first letter? Also please say whether this was on the car or through the post?

Sorry you are not answering the question I need, yes the letter came through the post. But did you have a ticket on the car? Please answer that

Okay you need to appeal this quickly as you are still within the 28 days of the notice to keeper, something like this, and email it to them and send it via the post office with a free proof of postage

    Dear UKPC,

As the registered keeper of (reg) I'm in receipt of your parking invoice xxxxxx dated xxxxxx. I wish to invoke your appeals process as all liability to you company is denied on the following

    1) this charge is not a genuine pre-estimate of loss
    2) your signage does not comply with the BPA Code of Practice
    3) you do not have the authority or permission to issue invoices at this location

If you reject this appeal please forward a popla verification code so an appeal can be made there, I will be asking for a full breakdown on the above, as you know all appeals are upheld on the points raised.

Please issue your cancellation within 35 days of this letter

    Faithfully

with rain and I had to return something - but the car park was dead. i really didn't think anything of it. sounds weak when you say it outloud but no way anyone was inconvenienced by my action as I was out of wickes in about 8 minutes. To be honest I had no idea that private carparks markings were anything other than "recommendations"
  • Sorry to be dim again but do I replace "dated xxx" with the date of the ticket on the windscreen or the date on the letter they sent me today

    Thankyou
