We had home made chips, chicken piece and salad for tea. Lazy dinner but I was shattered.

Dinner tomorrow is a chicken roast which I will be cooking - I bought a whole chicken so there can be left overs for a chicken pie but also for OH sandwiches - DS is at his Dads tomorrow so I don't need to cook for him - he will like the chicken pie for Monday.

Sunday - Roast - chicken was £3.99 from Ald! and I bought a veg pack which was just over a £1 and already am swimming in potatoes.
Monday - Chicken and bacon pie - will make this from left overs. Will serve with salad and mash as I mention I have so many patatoes.
Tuesday - Spag Bowl and garlic bread.
Wenesday - Veg casarole with other half of left over 2nd veg pack and my massive yorkshirs I did (I use the bbc recipe but agree fat in tin needs to be VERY hot.

    Thursday is shopping day.

    :)

    NSD for me :)

Had beans on toast for dinner and HM fish and chips for tea...my hubby's speciality! Since I was ill he cooks this every Saturday night as a treat.

I made lots of apple chutney today which I shall bottle tomorrow. I had all the ingredients in before christmas but didn't feel up to making it. It's a no cook one which keeps for at least 2 years which I got from my mum in law.

And dried peas are soaking ready to make and freeze mushy peas also tomorrow. They are handy to have in the freezer all portioned up.

Don't know what I'm going to do with all my veg! Hubby isn't keen on it from the freezer and warmed up, so I've been searching online for recipes. I found one for a parsnip and Stilton quiche which looked good, so might have a go at that with the bit of Stilton that came from one of those prepacked cheese board. Trouble is hubby doesn't like cheese much, so will have to be inventive lol

Hope you're all having a good weekend and keeping warm x

  • Please put me down for £200 for January 2014.

I was doing reasonably well, but was called into work today and ordered a Chinese to eat while watching TV - £9.50 :( (only partially saving grace is that it is enough for 2 meals).

Roasting a pheasant left over from Chrimble for tomorrow's dinner with mashed potatoes carrots and a clementine based sauce (with allspice, ginger, cinnamon, brown sugar etc).

Hope everyone has a frugalicious New Year.

Do you have a recipe for the sauce at all please. I have a glut of Clementines which are reaching the end,so would be good to use them up. Cheers.

Would you be kind enough to share your chutney recipe. Bought loads of apples from Lidls, but they are mushy tasting and not very nice. So would be great to turn them into something other than cake!

Just to add on here....I want a little advice.

What are your views on the £15.00 delivery pass with Asda for 3 months, and do you personally think it is worth it?
