default still on file after bankruptcy SANTANDER

i was made bankrupt in 2009. and ever since then santader have sent me quarterly statements adding money to the account. Now i have rung them lots of times over the last 4 years, argued and sworn at the idiots on the phone....no you still owe us the money etc....spoke to the official receiver and they said they would sort it out....so as im bored i decided to get my online credit report....and everything is fine, apart from one big red mark that says defaulted. so i just rang the official receiver again, and they told me they will send me a copy of the discharge letter, but i need to go into a branch of santander, and have them close the account, and sign some paper work? then it will be closed.

why did i not have to do this with other bank accounts and loans that were included in my bankruptcy?

And will this definately sort the problem out for me?

thanks in advance.

Most will have thought of dear bankruptcy nothing for us here and write it all off.

Some are just lazy or want to hinder your chances of further credit.

I had issues some time back and stopped paying them completely until the point of being passed to the usual crappy suspects.

I made them a pittiful offer, A its that or nothing. Nothing to negotiate if all the companies say yes you will get that. If any say no you all get nothing at all.

Luckily (i think) They accepted the offers. Some with the original lender and some with the collection companies.
A while later one of email accounts i used for the bills had hundreds of spam emails a day. All about loans and PPI claims. Offers to buy goods cheaply.

Now i would have put these down as SPAM. But quite a few had my real name on them. I dont have a record of which accounts i used on that email address though.

But one of the lenders/collection companies has used my email address for naughty deeds.

I now use a separate email address for everything. Every company/website i register with have a unique email address.

You do not have to go in and "sign" anything. It's not your responsibility any more.
and everything is fine, apart from one big red mark that says defaulted.

Well, you should have a default if the debt was included in a bankruptcy. It is instead the status and date of the default that is important.

The initial default date should be no later than the date of your bankruptcy order. The account should also be marked as satisfied (perhaps with a 'partial' flag) and show that nothing more is owed on the account.

    See the cleanup letter: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/677875

Santander are a pain, so be prepared to take it to both the ICO and FOS if they refuse or do not respond to requests to correct your file.

Forcing Santander to correct your file and acknowledge that nothing is now owed may stop them sending these letters, but even if not, unless they are being daft and threatening court action etc then they are just annoying background noise and shredder food.

Default date should be your BR date. Satisfaction date should be your discharge date. Default date is the crucial one to correct.

Your can contact Santander using the normal customer services address, their DPA address or wherever.

Santander are awkward and difficult to get any changes from, so it's possible that you will be forced to go to the FOS and ICO. Mention both FOS and ICO in any complaint.

I think a few people have had luck emailing the Santander CEO or similar email address? I'll try and hunt that out later.

Generally I would complain in writing to Santander's main address, and then email a copy of the complaint to every customer service/complaint/compliance email address that you can find for them.

Also contact the Credit Agency and ask them to mark the entry as disputed. They should send that through to Santander as well.

Someone posted an email address that worked for them them the other week. Search function on these forums is not great, but as said I'll try to hunt it down later if no-one else does.

Some seem to claim success when emailing ceo@santander.co.uk
