It depends how much lights you use and what kind whether it would be worth it or not ,
but I have just bought a load of LED;s.
I replaced 4 50W Halogens in the kitchen with some 5w LEDS that I bought from Amazon, i reckon we use the kitchen lights for about 10 hours a day
so 2000 watts will be reduced to approx 200! I really like these got them in warm white, which is not bright white but not yellow either. I was forever buying new halogens hopefully wont have that expense now either

I also got some LED bulbs for the hallway, bedrooms and bathroom.
Asda are doing Duracell ones, I got a 6 watt one for £7 and its quite good.0 -

If one "warmth" doesn't suit you, there's always another to try...0 -
I got these, they are a brilliant price, I paid £12.95 for one Philips in JLewis
with the exact same specs! So very good value for money.

They are 3000k but I have put them in a very dingy hallway that has hardly any natural light and they are fantastic. rated at 48w with 600 Lumens. only 2 more CFL's to get rid of, I hate them with a passion!!0 -
I currently have these 14w bulbs,(not LED) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Genie-Philips-Bayonet-Fitting-Equivalent/dp/B006VUMSY4/ref=pd_sim_sbs_light_1
but I have seen these 11w LED bulbs http://www.amazon.co.uk/LT-Lighting-Brightest-Inandescent-Replacement/dp/B00BHBGETM/ref=pd_sim_sbs_light_3 would you say its worth it for 3w difference? both have rating of A0 -

I got mine from LEDhut at about £6 each = £60 outlay so they'll pay for themselves in about 18 months as we use the lights for a lot more than an hour a day, especially in the winter. They are also supposed to last for 50,000 hours, which is a lot better than 1000-2000 hours for halogens.
The warm white versions are quite good, the light is better than the halogens and is more spread out.
LEDhut have a 20% sale on at the moment - we've got these http://www.ledhut.co.uk/spot-lights/gu10-led-bulbs/gu10-smd-led-220-lumens-45-watts-equiv-best-internet-price.html. Quote Big20 in their discount box and you'll get them for £5.51 each
.
Please can you tell me if these are suitable for ceiling down lights that have transformers?0 -

No, it would be pointless.
Why?
You might not save much money but for the quality of light compared to CFLs I am going to do it.
I replaced a CFL with a 9 watt LED similar to the ones you quoted.
I am now going to replace all my CFL bulbs, over time, with LED simply because of the quality of light the LEDs produce compared to CFLs.
I just have to figure out what LEDs to replace my 2, 2 foot flourescent tubes in my kitchen with.Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:0 -

Well the OP appeared to be asking if it would make financial sense.NowRetired wrote: »You might not save much money but for the quality of light compared to CFLs I am going to do it.

Fair enough, I can't say I have any problem with the quality of light from CFLs myself. I'll no doubt switch to LEDs at some point, but not until the price drops some more.Stompa0 -
