Help -Beko fridge broken after less than two years brought from Comet

i brought a Beko fridge freezer on the 1st April 2012 from Comet, last week it stopped working completely. I have conatcted Beko who have told me that their warrenty only covers the 1st year and i need to go back to the retailer as they sold it to them and not me direct, the retailer is their customer and not me. The issue is that Comet no longer trade. Beko are saying its not there problem and offered to put me in touch with a local repair man. What rights do i have?? i dont expect to spend £400 on a fridge freezer for it last less than 2 years.

Your rights are with the retailer, you are the retailers customer, not the manufacturers customer.

If your retailer has gone out of business then your options are heavily reduced. If you are looking to claim under SoGA then you will need to obtain an engineers report to prove the fault was inherent from purchase, but this would only cover you if you paid via credit card and would claim under S75.

If the warranty from the manufacturer has expired then this additional option to you is no longer viable.
