seeing a medium

My 15 y.o. granddaughter wants to go with a friend to visit a medium.(friend's suggestion.) Her mother is worried that she is too young for such things. As a family we do not believe in the supernatural, but her mother is worried that granddaughter could be influenced in some way. She couldn't give an example but is just a bit worried. But then she is a worrier.
Granddaughter has not had any relatives she has known who have died, and doesn't believe in ghosts or spirits.
So I wondered what you all thought.

My personal view is that your DGD will be wasting her money and that the cash could be better spent on green nail polish, glossy magazines and Millie's Cookies (i.e usual teen pocket money tat
)

I can't see how she could be influenced in any way.
Who is she planning in seeing, a medium (who usually 'contact' spirits) or a tarot reader or similar (who tell your fortune)?
If the former, I can't see the point if she has no friends or relative who have passed away as there will be nobody wanting to speak to her.
If the latter, I would let her go. Most of them are rubbish and make things up as they go along. There is the odd good one but even those aren't supposed to tell you anything bad.
When she comes back she probably will complain about wasting her money and won't want to go again.

Do you think your g/daughter wants to go with her friend to be an objective observer? She could be doing her friend a very good turn.0 -

All of them are fraudster just some are better than others. Worse kind of scrum mediums making money out of people suffering.
But at the end of the day it's het money, my main concerns are one encouraging the practice and two some people get addicted to their services rather properly mourning someone's loss, allthough0 -
Is it a one-to-one session, or a medium on a stage with an audience on chairs?0

Can't say I'd be too happy with my daughter going. It's a complete waste of money and fills impressionable children's heads with all sorts of nonsense.
If she wants to go to sit on the sidelines to support her friend, fine, but no way would I be encouraging any child of mine to line the pockets of one of these charlatans.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
It's just a bit of fun, I went with friends as a teenager and it made no impression on any of us whatsoever.0

At that age I certainly wouldn't have been anymore impressionable than I am now. I think you tend to be skeptical or you don't.0

Even if your granddaughter does believe what she is told at a tarot reading / medium session or whatever, it won't last long and I doubt she will be addicted or influenced by any of it. IME teenagers see this as just an experience, it would be older people with some disappointment or problem in their lives who tend to get addicted or influenced by these things. Harmless fun for a teenager.0

Ask her to get the lottery numbers for me please...It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0
