Folks,
I'm moving to a new place pretty soon which needs a seriously good decorating. I was thinking of applying Polycell Basecoat to all walls and ceilings before painting to cover the badly stuck-on paper and uneven walls - however, a couple of people have warned me off using this product. Can anyone advise or recommend a suitable alternative?
Any feedback much appreciated.
Thanks

They are right to warn you off, as its not very good, this is why they are giving good discounts on the stuff to rid of it, they know they made a boo boo when they introduced this to the market.
Sorry to tell you, but the only other alternative is to get stuck in and get the paper off, and you might then need to get the walls plastered if they are bad enough.0 -
i find this stuff good for filling walls after stripping paper, much quicker. Not for skimming walls, just filling cracks and gouges in the surface, before lining/papering
Using it for anything else is madness..........get a plasterer in.go on, adopt a greyhound

Cool - does this also mean the B&Q own brand Basecoat will be the same thing and so i should stay well away from it?0
