When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

Hi DFW-Jedis,
Today's mission: To boldly sort-out and catch-up in a way in which no woman has done before as the New Year is approaching.
The List:
*Catch up on finances spreadsheet. Yikes, looking a bit tight!
*Nectar AdPoints
*Do nightshift tonight.
*Fit new windscreen wiper: £5 from Tesco.
*Renew free subscription to Avast! anti-virus software.
*Deep clean bedroom ourselves. Can't believe it's already 3 months since we deep cleaned.

Morning folks, yay, Monday.....nope, not even convincing myself :-(
Anyhow, thanks to ally for starting the thread today.
I didn't make breakfast yesterday which meant that I've succumbed to a coffee and a bacon roll at the station (although it is literally 2 bits of bacon on a freshly baked white roll so it's not too bad) and it is a once a month treat.
So, today I have/will:
*bought a return train ticket to get to work
*checked online banking
*made lunch.....kind of have to a there is no canteen til Thursday
*need to email train companyas I couldn't use my railcard last week to get to work a the trains were not working
*must do some more washing when I get home
*need to plan food for tomorrow night as I've got a friend coming over to celebrate the new year
*need to do some college work
Think that is about it, no doubt there will be a gazillion typos as I am typing this on my phone but I will re read this when I get to work and correct.
Take care all,

Morning everyone,
It is a horrible day here down in Devon, and I am feeling poorly so I have taken the day off work
On the plus side, this means I won't be spending money on petrol or lunch and I am going to try and do some jobs whilst I am mooching around feeling sorry for myself...
So, today's list is as follows:
- B/L/D from stores
- Do a stock-take of food in my kitchen and finish my weekly food planner
- Tidy up
- 1 load of washing in
- If I feel up to it, venture to @ldi to get what I need to last the week
Hope you all have a lovely day,
Lots of love,

Hi all
And yet again, I'm back with a vengeance. We have a new kitchen to pay for this year (and next) so I need to sort myself out.
So, today.
1. BLD and snacks from stores. Nairns oatcakes on the train, half a grapefruit and porridge at work. Lunch is a crustless quiche made with tinned new pots, leftover stilton and broccoli with salad. Tea will be made by OH and will be something we have in. I've also brought fruit from home.
2. Sort out spreadsheet - we got paid a week early and with 28th Dec being a Saturday everything is coming out today, 9 days after I got paid! So I have no idea what's going on really and need to look at it today.
3. Join NSKs January challenge. Need to knuckle down.
4. Try and return Xmas top to Wallis without a receipt - will ring them first. It's a small but drowns me which is odd as I'm a size 12-14....
5. Pick up wooden guitar for DS for birthday in 2 weeks.
I think that's everything. Happy DFW days all xx0 -
Morning :wave: weather is shocking here again! Luckily oh did a makeshift fix on the gates but am going to need to find someone to repair it
hope it holds out today!
Had the best weekend away with my friend. Got back late last night as we decided on the way home to go and see The Hobbit. was brilliant just being so carefree without any hassle or drama!
Not much DFW plans today as still in holiday modebut I will:
* check banking
* finalise spreadsheet for next year
* paint radiator in the kitchen - if I d nothing else!
* db coming to work on bathroom - going to be plastering today - although I have just realised we haven't uni-bonded it! Opps better ring him and see what he says
* organise to pick up dd, take her shopping and drop her home (she has lost her purse with everything in it)
* all meals from stores
* watch a film later
* received some shoes I bought online but I don't like them so am going to return
* flylady the lounge
Ok that's enough! Have a lovely day everyone whatever you are up to xDF as at 30/12/16

Made my own breakfast and dinner (for work)
Used my new travel mug rather than stopping at starbucks on the way in to work.
Getting home insurance quotes looks like I'm saving £100 over the year.
costing up installing a bath into our bathroom.
Confirming travel plans for trip to Ireland0 -
Just thought of some more bits - I really need to engage with Adpoints and Swagbucks again this year as I did well last year but lost interest.
Spoke to Wallis - can exchange without the receipt0 -
Afternoon people
I'm still sat in my jammies, but it's allowed as we are still on the Christmas break.
Today I:
* will go to Tesco with my shopping list and will stick to it religiously
* will 'deal' with the extra veg that I have floating around my kitchen!
* will have that freezer clear out so that I know what I have and what I don't have
* go the gym and have a shower and use their hot water
* have done a wash at 30 degrees
:heartpuls CG :heartpulsEver wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -
Update on the day:
Home insurance managed to save £140, but I'll have to pay over the year, however I'm saving the same month amount in a savings pot so I don't need to do this again next year.
The dinner I took in was awful so had to get something from the canteen
return flights to Ireland cost me £34 which is less than the £100 I budgeted for.0 -
