  • I would second John Lewis own brand pans...

I remember when we put them on our wedding list I was horrifed at the price - around £35 (ish per pan) However they have lasted almost 6 years of constant use... are fine in the dishwasher and look as good as they did when we saw them on the display. They have a brushed steel finish around the middle and polished lip, base, lid and handle. They are heavy - but they have a thick base - everything about them is substantial!

The only down side as such was that there was a limited range i.e 1 small saucepan, 1 medium size, 1 large and 1 skillet - I ordered 2 of the medium and large size (must have had an preminition about how big our family would get!)

Hope you find what you are looking for ;)
  • oooopss I took too long to post!!!

A tip with le crusset - be careful if you get one of the "fashion" colours I think they bring a new one out every year.

My dad got a set of green to match his aga  and wanted to replace one pan and couldn't get an exact match anywhere... they are about 12 years old and have lasted well although he has never put them in the dishwasher.

He was a little annoyed to say the least - he tried everywhere!

I have scoured the net and have now ordered some pans from head cook. The set of 3 looked to be a good investment and I`m hoping they`ll arrive before the postal strike

I`ll be able to give my anolon pans to my dd on tuesday so I might be using my slow cooker, steamer or wok until the new ones arrive.

I am going to treat myself the the stainless steel Stellar 7000 range. I have found them reduced in a sale and think they are a good buy.

I've reached the ripe old age of 37 without ever having owned a brand new pan set of my own, so I'm going to treat myself. Hopefully they'll be good enough that I never have to buy a second set either.

    Hi

My mum bought me a set of 'Prestige Lifetime' saucepans as a wedding present. They are stainless steel with a copper circle on the bottom. They are still as good as new apart from one or two of the handles now have the varnish coming off, but heh after 21 years what can you expect. Oh and they are frequently in the dishwasher but for burnt on stains (just the odd or 2 mind you!) I use a brillo pad.
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!

I got these this year - they are very, very nice! I think they will outlast me. I got the 7000 ones with draining lids and they are really handy, I couldn't be more pleased with them. You will love them!
