carpets - best place to buy

Options
We need a new carpet for our hall, stairs and landing (it's in a bit of a state), and don't know where to look for one other than the usual - Carpetright and Allied.

We have found one local place who are quite limited in what they can supply, but I am a little put off by the reputations of the national retailers.

Any ideas and thoughts would be really appreciated. Thanks.

i've just had my stairs and landing done and i got an off cut from my local carpet shop - i needed 13' x 9' and got it for £40 - paid £35 to fit and it looks really good

i'd shop around your local carpet shops rather than go to the big shops as when i was looking, even on the cheapest carpets, they were nearly double/treble the price!

    good luck :D

    I can recommend CompletelyFlooring.co.uk
I have used them for carpet tiles which last longer, and are easier to clean.

I've phoned around a couple of local carpet shops and visited one. Offcuts seem to be the only thing they specialise in unfortunately. The area to be covered isn't huge, but it is a fair size, and my wife is fairly specific about the colour.

As for carpet tiles, I can't see that being an option up the stairs, but thanks for the idea. I appreciate any thoughts.

Does anyone know if the big suppliers pricematch out of interest?

    Hi there
Not sure where you live, but yesterday we did the carpet hunt and ended up paying our depost at a place called CArpets 4 Less. They were a 1/3 price cheaper than Carpet Right and just more accomodating with fitting dates and times.
Not sure if you have one near where you live but their website is www.carpets4less.com

I'm in Kent, so that looks to be feasible. Thanks for the tip!
